Brian Dunn, Utah Regional President for Steward Healthcare, has been elected as chair of the Association for 2022
Brian Dunn, Regional President for Steward Health Care, has been elected to serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Utah Hospital Association. As Chair, Dunn will lead the 19-member board in developing policy and direction for the Association in 2022-23.
Dunn’s extensive healthcare experience includes being at the helm of leading healthcare organizations across the United States for more than 30 years. His expertise in team building, collaborative partnerships, and leadership management have helped shape the current healthcare landscape to best serve the needs of patients in the region’s communities.
In his role as regional president of Steward Health Care’s Western Region, Dunn oversees Steward’s operations in Utah and Arizona, including the affiliated hospitals, surgical centers, urgent care centers, and imaging centers, as well as Steward Medical Group practices and affiliated Steward Health Care Network providers. Steward hospitals in Utah include Davis Hospital & Medical Center in Layton, Jordan Valley Medical Center in West Jordan, Jordan Valley Medical Center-West Valley City Campus, Mountain Point Medical Center in Lehi, and Salt Lake Regional Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
Previously, Dunn was an Operating Partner at the private equity firm The Riverside Company. Prior to Riverside, he served as the Chief Executive Officer at Success Health Care and Executive Vice President for hospital operations at Promise Healthcare, both national hospital systems. Dunn has also worked for CHG Healthcare Services as their Executive Vice President, Arizona and Nevada Regional President for IASIS Healthcare, and as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. Steward acquired IASIS in 2017.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah and earned his Master of Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia. He was recognized as a Top 40 business person under the age of 40 by Utah Business Magazine in 2003 and was recognized as a Solucient 100 Top Hospitals Performance Improvement Leader in 2005.
Dunn believes in maintaining strong community ties and has served on various community boards including the MotivHealth Insurance Company, American Heart Association, Catholic Community Services, Salt Lake Applied Technology College, and the David S. Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah.
