Davis Hospital and Medical Center will host the fourth annual Get Ready Fair on Saturday, September 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. With more than 50 vendors, including representatives from local fire, police, AirMed, SWAT and Sheriff offices, the Get Ready Fair has grown to become one of the hospital’s most popular public events.
“The Get Ready Fair started out as a disaster-focused event,” says Michelle Villegas, Emergency Management Coordinator at Davis Hospital and Medical Center. “But we wanted to grow it. Our goal is to help people prevent, prepare, and plan, so that we can become a better, stronger, more resilient community. Over the years, the fair has added more vendors and presenters, allowing us to better serve our community’s emergency prep needs.”
September’s Get Ready Fair will offer something for everyone. Davis Hospital’s “Tent of Excellence” will host talks prepared by representatives from all of the hospital’s award-winning departments, including Breast Care, Stroke Care, and the Cardiac Cath Lab.
An Eagle Scout will help Boy Scouts get started on their Emergency Preparedness badge. Layton Veterinary Hospital will provide pet emergency information and preparedness kits for sale. Trailers simulating house fires and earthquakes will be on-site to help attendees learn how to respond in the event of a natural disaster. Several organizations will provide information on bike safety for children, senior safety in the home, and other topics.
“We take a comprehensive approach to safety and preparedness with the Get Ready Fair,” says Dena Eckhart, Emergency Services Director of Davis Hospital and Medical Center. “Everything from physical and mental health to natural disaster preparedness and end-of-life planning will be represented. We look forward to engaging with our community as we come together to plan for better futures.”
